I'd just like to point out that I disagree with the notion that AAs don't "have much" political representation in San Francisco. While, I'm sure there could be more, it should be pointed out that Jew is not the ONLY AA ever on the board as the quote implies. There are many, many AAs that work in an appointed fashion in City government and in the past there has been more on the Board. The district politics in the Sunset and Richmond are fairly complex. Asian Americans and esp. Chinese Americans have considerable business sway in those areas and often support candidates that support their interests (just like anybody else), so I'm a bit suspect of the Jew supporters calling the race card and playing up the "second class" argument which is, well not so valid in SF, in my opinion. Granted, the Board tends to come from the intolerantly liberal front, and so I'm sure some are using this as an opportunity to oust Jew based on his politics, but like you said, his finances are suspect and the residency thing... I'm sorry, but it IS a big deal in a snobby municipality like ours. But on a lighter note.
