One year from today will be the very lucky August 8th, 2008 (8/8/08) and the beginning of the much anticipated 2008 Beijing Olympics, seen as China’s coming out party for the 21st century, quoting here from a Reuters report:
“More than a million Beijingers gathered in city parks on Wednesday morning for the first
of more than 60 events around China to mark the start of the one-year countdown to the 2008 Olympic Games….Holding the Olympic Games has been the common aspiration of all our country’s peoples, something the Chinese have been waiting for for 100 years,”…the People’s Daily, quoted top government officials as saying. “In a year’s time …. the century-long dream of the Chinese people will come true.”
The Wall Street Journal has a great article the other day on “A Year Out, Beijing Games Test China’s Rising Power” as well as “Gaming the Games” about how to plan on going to the Olympics.
