Edison Chen, for those that aren’t familiar, is a Chinese-Canadian movie and music star. He’s a big one at that, appearing in over twenty Hong Kong films, albums in Cantonese and Mandarin, and even a cameo appearance in the upcoming Batman film The Dark Knight. He’s an HK Justin Timberlake, if you will.
Now imagine if photos of Justin Timberlake were leaked to the Internet, having sex with six female pop-stars. Because that’s pretty much what has happened - photos of Edison Chen were leaked to the Internet having sex with multiple Cantopop stars including Gillian Chung, member of popular HK group Twins. From the Asia Times:
Sing Pao reported that the pictures were initially discovered several months ago when Chen sent his pink Apple Powerbook laptop to a computer shop for repairs.
The technician accidentally discovered photographs and videos of Chen and more than a dozen Hong Kong celebrities which he downloaded onto his own computer.
Hate on his pink laptop all you want; he had sex with multiple female popstars, and you didn’t. (Probably.)
Celebrity sex videos leaked to the Internet in the U.S. are nothing new: Fred Durst, Paris Hilton, that crappy skater Tonya Harding. But where those sex videos were posted by spurned lovers or the celebrities themselves as a way to boost their career, these photos were taken off a laptop that needed to be fixed. And for the relatively clean (read: sexy, but sexless) image of Asian HK movie and pop stars, this has proved to have disastrous consequences: Gillian Chung has taken a “leave of absence,” while Edison Chen has been pulled from a movie and posted a terse video in English:
Lesson learned, folks: IF YOU GO TO A COMPUTER REPAIR SHOP IN HONG KONG, HAVE SEX WITH POP STARS AND TAKE PHOTOS, DELETE IT FROM YOUR LAPTOP. OR CHRIST, COPY IT TO A DVD OR SOMETHING.
As for the sex photos themselves? I HAVE found a link where the (ridiculously hardcore) photos are available, but I’m not about to surf adult websites at work. I’ll update this blog post when I get home with a completely NSFW link later.
