This event was broadcast on channel 1, north korea. Up until this point, all media messages regarding the US to the north korean public have been under a negative connotation. This is the first time the US has been broadcast, to the people, positively.

i don’t think there’s any way the NY Philharmonic’s trip to North Korea could have been “insignificant” in that country.

Now, in its effect on the U.S. and diplomacy, probably not …like you point out. But an event like that in such a closed country has to have made huge news internally. I can only hope that even with a little exposure to the outside world will make some sort of positive impact in NOrth Korea.
