i wish they had one for cantonse people. i'd love to go to macau and gamble the nights away, or clubbing in HK all paid for by the Chinese government. unfortunately, the CCP doesn't seem like it cares about the love lives of its people overseas! :(

@asianmommy I had a great time on my Love Boat trip (even though my article about it does seem kind of scathing). I think it's a good testing ground for college life, though I do think some kids just did not know how to handle freedom.

There is no way I am sending my kids on that. People wander into your room so not only your possible future spouse but anyone and everyone can walk into your bedroom - where you SLEEP - THAT is not traditional Chinese appropriate. I remember an eary 90s Korean soap opera where a girl or a boy wasn't even supposed to know what the other person's bedroom LOOKED like (no posting pix on the internet) and I thought, that's what happened to MY kind of Chinese? They went to South Korea! Yes, I went to Tamsui, and I appreciate the government subsidy. it was a drowsy SLOW way to spend the summer but it's not a good idea if you can afford to accompany your own kids to Taiwan. I think it shows how good and obedient Chinese American kids are that they can spend months taking it very very slow with classes in the morning, standard meals every day and visiting non events like memorials every afternoon and not lose their minds. Yes, kids snuck out to go dancing but even so, those were good kids. It was intentionally boring.

I know many people who have been on the Love Boat. They all had a great experience, made some friends, learned a little, and enjoyed traveling throughout Taiwan. Only 1 couple I know of ended up getting married.
