I think it's interesting how there are people waging these lame lawsuits across the country declaring that Obama was not born in the United States. Of course, we all know that Obama was indeed born here in the U.S. But it must be troublesome to know that some people refuse to believe you're "from here" if you're not white. And how annoying it must've been for Obama to constantly hear John McCain and Sarah Palin challenge his loyalty to America during the presidential campaign. So it confuses me that Obama would appoint someone to the Cabinet who has publicly challenged another man's American heritage and loyalty to America because he happened to be Asian American, but American all the same. I voted for Obama but I don't idolize him like some people do. So I'm not going to defend every decision he makes like some mindless groupie, and this is going to be one of those times.

As for Bill Richardson, I think what he did to Wen Ho Lee was his way of projecting his own insecurities about himself as a man of color onto someone else, or better yet, onto another ethnic group other than his own. A true man and leader apologizes for his shortcomings, and earns even more respect from others as a result of his humility. A coward always refuses to admit fault.

It also saddens me to see how people in certain online communities are ripping on the Chinese Americans for their protest of Richardson's appointment. Check out: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/12/03/chinese-americans-protest_n_148017.html
You'd think that such a liberal, left-leaning publication would elicit some more classy comments and open-minded attitudes towards others, but apparently not.

Yeah, the Wen Ho Lee case was a real big embarrassment in how it was handled. I almost forgot that Richardson was involved until I read this. The poor Dr. Lee and any other Asian-Americans who might be interested in fields related to military science have lost a big footing.
