I must revise my previous post; my sister and girlfriend are both asian females and relatively bad drivers -- so maybe it runs in females to a certain extent; I'm sure the age factor is much more influential on driving skill than the gender factor though.

I am Asian but I don't think I'm a bad driver. I was curious about this stereotype so I made an effort to observe the race and demographic of each individual who I deem is a "bad driver".I always look into the window of the car as I pass them.

I am very anti-political correctness and pro science, so with all stereotypes I'm always hesitant to dismiss it as a "myth." But in all my years of driving the only bad drivers I have found were old people (over the age of 65), and they all happened to be white. So far, I cannot vouch for this "bad Asian driver" stereotype.

I live in L.A. The last time I saw a car accident on the highway involved white people. The one before that invovled white people. The one before that involved white people and latinos. The one before that involved white people and latinos.

The guy who ran over groups of people in a popular shopping area, The Grove, was white. Several coworkers who were involved in serious car crashes are white.
On highway 1, a guy in a pickup truck wasn't paying attention and smashed into the car in front of him. He was white. A guy in Santa Monica ran a traffic light in his sports car. He was white.

The problem is, when accidents like these occur, white people don't look at it as "Another white person who can't drive". They overlook it. But as soon as white people see an asian person making a mistake, it's hearlded across the nation that ALLLL asians can't drive. It's a form of acceptable racism that no one will admit.

Ok, I have been driving since I was 16 and I have never had an accident. I live in Los Angeles and I can file "BAD DRIVERS" into two categories, Senior Citizens and Asians. Every single time I encounter a bad driver the person is either ASIAN or just OLD. I'm not racist at all, but I really do think that when it comes to driving Asians just have no clue what's going on. Yesterday I was driving to work and an Asian lady turned on her signal indicating that she was going to switch lanes, it took her 5 minutes to go from one lane to the next. By the time she made a succesfull lane change she was looking around like she had just taken 10 hits of acid. She eventually starting drifting into my lane forcing me to slam on my brakes. I pulled up next to her and just gave her a look and she looked back at me with this smirk on her face. It almost seemed like a human body was driving the car, but her brain was still at home drinking Soy Sauce. FYI...DRIVING IS NOT HARD, JUST PAY ATTENTION AND FOLLOW THE SIGNS AND REMEMBER...DON'T HIT PEOPLE. How is it possible for someone to get into CALTECH and have trouble changing lanes? This question still remains unanswered.

I say it's because there are more of them. But to be honest in some canadian cities most drivers should be forced to ride a bike..

I really wonder if caucasians ever notice a white person driving badly too. I mean...if I'm counting by race, I can average seeing 7 bad white drivers to maybe 1 black driver and 1 asian driver, in one day. Do we single out bad drivers when we notice they're of a different race?
