I got mine at my local bookstore (town of 26,000) so I don’t know why others are having a problem. The biggest issue with this book is that it is a HUGE disappointment. Preachy and basic, the book misses the opportunity to really create something of interest. Rather than actually create new superheroes, most of the pages are devoted to a “discussion” of identity, culture, and race. That would have been MUCH more interesting if the contributors couched it – the discussion – in more compelling narratives.

Oh well.

Adrian Tomine’s Shortcomings. I highly highly recommend it.

I’ve ordered Secret Identities and am looking forward to checking it out.

I read it. Nice effort but I don’t think it’s very good. Some stories are pretty decent but for the most part, art is subpar.

Thanks Tim–no idea they were having this trouble. I ordered mine too, after not finding it in the store, but didn’t know it’s a general problem.

FYI, there’s also a little giveaway going on at CurrentVine.com that’s sort of related to the anthology. Hopefully that’s spreading the word too.

Ordered mine through Amazon a couple days ago, still waiting for it to arrive. I think its pretty clear its a graphic novel… weird how there is confusion.
