Asian Americans use general Asian thing as the standard for their nationality, I once heard a Chinese (American) guy saying how Ninja’s and Samurai were Chinese and spoke of the Chinese Yen (Da Xiao, Sheme?) much like French Americans teaching their children German or British stuff because it’s ”all white”.

I couldn't watch more than one episode of that show (at the time I didn't even know what it was, having been under a rock without cable for a time). I regretted ever stumbling onto TLC via channel surfing.
