Fanboys rejoice! The full-length trailer for the comic-to-TV-to-movie adaptation of The Green Hornet movie (out in theaters January 2011) has hit the Internet — and it doesn’t look half bad.
I thought it was going to be hard to accept funnyman Seth Rogen as an action hero, but based on the trailer, it kind of fits. Then there’s Jay Chou, who is, of course, the true star. He plays Kato (originally played by Bruce Lee in the ’60s TV series) to Rogen’s Green Hornet. From the trailer, Kato is the brains behind the team while Britt Reid (a.k.a. The Hornet) is the endearing bumbling brawn.

Overall, i think the movie was actually quite good. I know that everyone says he isn't a good actor, but he isn't like those professional actors, for goodness sake he just started acting a couple years ago! not like he's been acting for years and years like ariel lin. The chemistry between Jay Chou and Seth Rogen was pretty good, and that was a good start. I think the movie was quite humorous and amusing. I wouldn't say the movie was completely lame, maybe a bit, but not completely for there were alot of scenes that were quite amusing to watch.

The movie is lame, the fight scenes are derivative of the matrix, there wasn't a memorable scene for any of the actors, the villain was very generic, Seth Rogen was really out of place with his annoying clumsy attitude, and even cameron diaz seemed out of place (like what is a big time star doing there?). No offense to Jay Chou fans, but I don't understand why Kato would be cast by an asian foreigner that speaks with a foreign asian accent (that sometimes I didn't understand) instead of an asian like Daniel Henney or Will Yun Lee that are fluent in English. I guess they wanted someone who has a ching chong accent.

Because Jay Chou is a "Taiwanese Superstar" and because global sales make more than American sales, they want to market this film in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. No longer are American blockbusters made for Americans. Or Asian-Americans.

If you think about it, they weren't trying to portray Jay Chou as a martial artsist who could speak english fluently, rather a martial artist that could speak some english... just saying.

OliviaLau It doesn't matter if Jay Chou could speak some english fluently, the point I was trying to make is that how many time have any us asians growing up been teased with ching chong remarks. Doesn't Jay Chou as kato with his asian accent remind you of the stereotypical asian man who is fresh off the boat and doesn't assimilate to society because he is once again foreign? Bruce Lee was born in the states and hardly had an asian accent as kato.

Actually the movie isn't half bad.. there are funny and intense fight scenes. Not that good on 3d though but it was overall entertaining. I think would watch it again next week :-)

right now, jay chou has played more than 5 movies and the best one is "Secret" . I dont understand why you guys still keep talking about Initial D ...cuxz that wasn't the best one

emo? man. People are totally misusing that term. There was nothing emo about Initial D. Granted, that character was a half-bored character. But in Curse of the Golden Flower, his acting was much better. If anything, I can probably go with the whole Jay Chou as Kato, but Seth Rogen as Green Hornet? Uhh....
I mean seriously? This is the same guy from 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up? Going to have a hard time swallowing that one down.
You know, but the Initial D character wasn't exactly a part that really called for much range in the first place. It was fine to look half-depressed/half-emo and get away with it. It's really hard to judge one's acting on that alone. Nonetheless, will give him the benefit of the doubt in this until I see it. I do hope it's good!

Actually, his role in Initial D was actually pretty spot on. Haven't really seen him in anything else though. Oh.... Curse of the Golden Flower. But that director likes to cast some funky stuff as it is and wow you with the cinematography.
Am I a bad Asian if I think that Jay Chou is a lousy actor?

nope, everyone has their own opinions about that. I wouldn't say he was completely lousy, well u gotta take into account the fact that he started acting only a COUPLE years ago, just saying...
