Filipino/Puerto Rican singer Bruno Mars (real name Peter Hernandez) was arrested over the weekend in Las Vegas after being discovered with a bag of cocaine in a nightclub.
An arrest report for Hernandez said a bathroom attendant told police Hernandez was taking a long time in a stall with a bag of a white, powdered substance. The attendant alerted a security guard, who confronted Hernandez as he left the stall. The security guard said he asked Hernandez to hand over any narcotics he had, and Hernandez pulled a bag of cocaine from his left-front jeans pocket.
While Paris Hilton lied her way into circles when she was caught with drugs earlier, the “Just The Way You Are” singer just straight up told the truth. I kind of have to respect that. Sure, there are ways to cheat the system as a celebrity (like Lindsay Lohan’s excuse about wearing her friend’s pants when caught with a small amount of cocaine) and who knows what Bruno Mars was really doing, but I appreciate his honesty (and this is exactly why I don’t work in law enforcement). Hopefully it won’t backfire on him in court and in his career. Bruno, wear your “Asians Behaving Badly” badge with pride!
