Glee Actress Charice’s Dad Stabbed to Death in the Philippines

Charice Pempengco is a 19 year old singer and actress who is known for her beautiful voice and talent. She started her career in America at age 15 when her YouTube video went viral. Now, she’s known throughout Asia and America. Her father, Ricky Pempengco, at 40 years old, was killed earlier this Monday at a grocery store in San Pedro, Philippines by a drunk man. The drunk man got angry when Charice’s father brushed against him and the drunk man stabbed Charice’s father in the chest and back with an ice pick. Due to this unfortunate circumstance, Charice is canceling the rest of her tour dates so to return home to her family.

This is just really, really depressing. And the circumstances are even more sad, especially since this type of thing has happened to my relatives back home

@mwei It’s REALLY bad back home. The only reason why they appear to be the “happy” APAs because on the inside they’re suffering immensely and they have this insanely fatalistic blind faith that God will take care of them while completely disregarding what they could do while alive! Because of the abject poverty back home, many Pilipinos take up smoking or drinking to temporarily escape their plight.

@Bunni @mwei hmm I wouldn’t go that far. All the parties and social gatherings help keep some form of sanity but religion is giving false hope to many. Moar lechon!
