Our internal e-mail lists have us discussing all kinds of stuff: Asian American identity, representation in the media, the experiences of activism in an academia setting and its progression as we transition to the working, adult world. And sometimes, we try to start our own pop cultural revolution with horrible puns based off of Asian names. Move over, Jeremy Lin. We’ve got someone new!
Joz: From George K, Keep your eyes on basketball player Sabatino Chen…a junior point guard at the University of Colorado. This Asian American basketball player was born in Boulder, CO and played at Monarch HS in Louisville, CO. His dad is of Chinese descent. His mom is of Italian descent.
John: What are we now, a scouting web site for Asian American basketball players? I’ll have to register chensanity.com. #CHENNING
Edward: No more _____sanity or ____ning please.
Joz: Will you be mad at us when we go Hong-sane for you and all your Hong-ing acting gigs?
Susan: This is so Chentertaining.
Jeff: I’m totally chenchanted!
Joz: This kid had better be a chentastic basketball player because I can’t wait to be ch-engaged with the chen-eration of ch-endless Chen puns.
Jeff: He better be good as I want to be totally chengrossed!
Ernie: Chenplease kill me chennow.
Jeff: Ernie broke the pun train. Again.
