The 8Asians Talk About the Internal Korean Oreo Ad

Our internal e-mail lists have us discussing all kinds of stuff: Asian American identity, representation in the media, the experiences of activism in an academia setting and its progression as we transition to the working, adult world. And sometimes, we talk about innocent things. Innocent things like milk and cookies and OMG BOOBIES. Case in point, this delightful internal South Korean ad for the Oreo cookie.

Joz: Seems to be real. Also, my problem with it is that it was a bad Photoshop job to add the Oreo into the baby’s hand.

John: Kraft says Oreo breastfeeding ad was never meant for public eyes.

Moye: I like it.

Mike: Is it wrong that I want an Oreo right now?

John: Forget the Oreo, I could use some milk.

Ernie: Annnnnnnd here come the petitions.

Koji: As a new father, I only see breasts as a means to feed and comfort the baby. So give me the Oreo.

I mean, from a practical point of view this is totally a fake ad – I mean, how many babies have the coordination or the teeth to bite into a cookie? And they’re so difficult to take direction on camera.
