With every Super Bowl, there are the commercials. In fact, many people just watch the Super Bowl for the commercials. But since I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, I was rooting for the 49ers – too bad they lost! Here are the commercials that featured an Asian or Asian American in a noticeable role. Personally, my favorite of the bunch was PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style’ Pistachios commercial because it was so unexpected that it was really hilarious and made everyone laugh at the Super Bowl party I had attended.
Of course, most of the roles are fairly small, except for the Best Buy ad, where the Best Buy salesman is trying to educate Amy Poehler on a variety of consumer electronics and appliances, and in one scene, Poehler is flirting with the salesman. In the past, Best Buy has done a good job demonstrating the diversity of their sales staff. You can catch the rest of the commercials here:
