Rest in Peace, Brittany Murphy. While we might have known her as Eminem’s girlfriend in 8 Mile or “that girl that did the ‘Rolling with the Homeys’ thing from Clueless,” she was also in a quirky little indie movie set in Japan called Ramen Girl. ($14.98) You’ve probably seen plenty of movies where the gaijin woman tries to find herself in Japan: Scarlett Johansen doing ikibana in Lost in Translation, Sarah Michelle Gellar before she gets all crazy little boy-demon possessed in The Grudge — think of Ramen Girl as a more lighthearted version of either of those two movies: an American girl simply trying to get over heartbreak by making the perfect bowl of ramen. Besides, if someone still gives you shit for buying this movie, you can call them out and tell them that they shouldn’t be making fun of dead people anyway. Again: Rest in Peace, Brittany Murphy.
