If you’re an active commenter on 8Asians.com – all thirteen of you, I’m looking at you – you’ve noticed that for the past couple of weeks we’ve switched up our comments to use disqus. While there are some interesting benefits – threaded comments, the ability to rate particular ones, there are also some cons as well. So if you don’t mind, I’ve thrown an impromptu straw poll. Let me know, and if there’s an overwhelming preference either way, I’ll see what I can do. (If you’ve come here through Google, well, chances are you’re just reading a blog post on interracial dating and will just click on your back button anyway.)
NOTE: 8Asians.com is a community, and we thank you for being a part of it. While we welcome and appreciate differences in opinion, if you're rude or you're promoting spam, we have a right to edit or delete your comment. Read our comment policy for more information.

As for my lurking, I have had whole conversations with hadashi (another commenter here) about what I would say if I actually wrote a comment. In fact, I did that today as we were driving back from lunch.
Disqus added more things to deal with when commenting. Also, it worked differently on different browsers, and not at all consistently. For example, on my corporate issued laptop running an old IE 6, sometimes the comment count appeares and other times it does not. It always appeared on Safari on my Mac at home though. That inconsistency was annoying, especially since I spend most of my time on the corporate laptop.
Hey Ernie! Your poll needs another option: “Go with another commenting system altogether”. Go with JS-Kit.com if you'd like to get polls, ratings, comments, scores, etc. all from one service. Additionally, you will get full and equal SEO support, comments and commenters stay with your blog, and your community stays with you rather than with a separate destination site. Let me know if you're interested or have questions. Cheers, Nancy at JS-Kit.com
ancient one: They’re not gone forever per say, but they are surprisingly difficult, I am finding, to reintegrate back into WordPress. -1 against disqus.
