3974119874 c85672722e Giveaway: Autographed Copy of Mike Shinodas Glorious Excess Art Book; final weekend of JANM exhibition in L.A.

About a month ago, we reported that Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park fame opened a exhibit of his artwork called Glorious Excess (Dies) at the Japanese American National Museum in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles.

If you didn’t heed our advice and go see the exhibit right away, you and the rest of the procrastinators of the world have one final weekend to check it out. Glorious Excess (Dies) will be closing October 4, so it’s your last chance to check out this one-of-a-kind art show. While you’re at it, why not check out the ID Film Fest also happening in Little Tokyo this weekend, as well?

What’s that? You love Mike Shinoda and you want a little something to remember this exhibit by? Shinoda published a special Glorious Excess “Art Book” which is a 128-page full-color book that documents the bodies of work he created for (Born) and (Dies). The forward is written by world-renowned artist Shepard Fairey and also includes five insightful chapters written by Shinoda himself. (All proceeds from the book and other merchandise from this exhibit go to various charities Shinoda supports.)

I would like to win Mike Shinoda’s art book because I have been a fan of his since he gained popularity with Linkin’ Park and also when he started his solo career as Fort Minor. As well, I’m inspired by his art work and since I live in AR, I was not able to visit his art exhibit personally. But with his book, I’ll be able to channel his creativity and apply the inspiration to my own graphic design work.

because exhibits like this never make it to san antonio, i have to live vicariously through internet and various other media to get my asian- fix. and it looks like an awesome book given shinoda’s many many talents . . .

I would like to win because I love excess. Also, I enjoy Linkin Park. But please don’t tell anyone about the second part.

  • Eric

I want to win the book because saw him working on some of the art and it looked amazing. I’m from New York City and LA & NYC have amazing art exhibits so it’s only natural I want something from LA. I work in advertising so I appreciate creativity and artwork.

I have no musical talent whatsoever. I can’t even hold my own on Guitar Hero. I’m hoping that by winning something from Mike Shinoda, some of his talent will rub off on me!

  • Guest

Give it to me. Why? Because I like winning.

My story isn’t going to be the most amazing, but I hope that you’ll see why it’s deserving. I first started listening to Linkin Park when I was twelve years old. I grew up in an environment that left me less than whole; however, the light at the end of my tunnel has always been the six men of Linkin Park. As I sank down into a deep depression at the age of 18, my best friend and the men of the band pulled together and yanked me back up out of my hole. Now, at the age of 21, I’m happy to say that I was able to thank them formally for keeping me alive when I wanted nothing more than to die. I just want something to remember my idols by.

    Thanks =)

I’m a huge fan of Mike Shinoda, he is my idol, I have nothing but respect for him, every single side project he does blows me away, not to mention I’m a fan of Linkin Park and Fort Minor. A friend and I even opened a fan site dedicated to Mr. Shinoda himself! (www.mikeshinodaclan.co.nr)
I live in Texas so it’s hard for me to go to LA to see his art show, I’ve only seen the pictures he posted on his blog. So, to have an autographed Glorious Excess Art Book from Mike Shinoda would mean the world to me, I love his art! I even started to paint because of him!
    Thanks,
    Ana A.

Just because I wasn’t chosen for the DVDs giveaway and I’m hoping to further expand my horizon of art.

  • Mike Honcho

I enjoy seeing more and more emerging Asian American artists and their works. The biggest art show in the country is coming up and I need this book for review!
