Oh man, remember when we started posting about the token Asian American contestants on American Idol when people regularly watched the show? Yeah, I don’t either. But hey, why break the trend now?
This years rumored American Idol 11 Semi-Finalist – rumored, because his audition episode just aired, but spoiler websites have revealed he makes the Top 42 semi-finalists – comes in the form of Heejun Han, a 24 year old non-profit organizer from Flushing, New York. He’s quirky like William Hung, but he’s funny in a deadpan way and wears one of those beanies with a brim which means he’s about a thousand times cooler! And he also belts out a mean Michael Bolton!

Just saw the last half of American Idol Hollywood groups tonight-- lots of time spent showing a cowboy country singer pitted against the other group members, including Heejun. It was characterized as East vs. West, with plenty of muttering and complaining from the three others against the overbearing cowboy. Maybe they meant East coast hip hop versus country western. Nah. And bleah. Why do I torture myself like this?
I'm hoping his repertoire isn't limited to ballad - ish songs Asians tend to favor.
What happened to the Asian support for Thia Megia last season? She was better than Jasmine Trias, who actually made top 3. I guess Hayward California isn't as tight knit a community as Hawaii.
@JosephLee1 Megia's way better in terms of vocal skill but Jasmine Trias picked better songs somehow. Somewhere along the competition, Thia's energy just pffffted.
AidenHeeseungHan Awesome! So... surely you know whether he's in the semi-finals are not. It's okay, we know you're not supposed to tell. (Tap once for "yes", twice for "no.")
