Dear Sophie: Google Chrome Makes Us Cry

This Google Chrome video has been making its way around the Internet because if there’s one thing that people love to watch online besides porn, nut shots and/or cat videos, it’s touching but produced moments about Daniel Lee, an Asian American father, using Google’s technology to write sappy emails to his daughter to document her childhood.

If I sound bitter right now, it’s because I totally fell for this video and now I’m mad at my own dad for not doing this. Sure, Google didn’t exist back in the 80’s but COME ON, NOW. He had a typewriter at least, right? On second thought, his letters to me would have been something like “Don’t forget to do your homework,” “Why did you get detention in first grade for talking too much?” and “Stop saying ‘like’ so much.” So nevermind.

About Moye

I am a Japanese-American girl who was born, raised and is most probably stuck in traffic right this second in Los Angeles. I'm currently one of the co-editors of 8Asians and like to distract myself with good food, reading long books, playing video games, catching up on celebrity news, choosing my new new haircut and then writing all about it on Hello Moye and sometimes here on Twitter if I can get it in under 140 words or less. You can reach me at moye[at]8asians.com.
