First APA Coach Erik Spoelstra To Lead Miami Heat To NBA Finals

Hesitant congratulations are in order to Erik Spoelstra for not only coaching the Miami Heat basketball team to the NBA finals, but being the first Asian American and Filipino American head coach of an NBA franchise. He is also the NBA’s youngest coach at 37 years old.

Why the hesitant congratulations? Because it’s the Miami freakin’ Heat, a basketball team that everyone outside the 305 area code cannot stand. This probably explains how I never knew the head coach was Filipino until now; I’m sure everyone in Miami probably just assumes he’s from Peru or Venezuela. (Seriously, not a ton of Asians in Miami.)
