CNN: Growing Clout of Asian Americans

I caught this CNN piece last weekend. With the release of that Pew Research a few weeks ago, there has been a slew of reporting on Asian Americans. As I cover the political angle in a lot of my posts, it’s nice to see some reporting on the political involvement and potential importance of the Asian American vote this fall – especially in key swing states for the presidential race.

I liked how one activist in the news segment said that the Asian American model minority myth assumes there are no problems within the community. This myth perpetuates that there are no problems within the community and concerns are ignored or dismissed, giving little voice by the community to be heard.

About John

I'm a Taiwanese-American and was born & raised in Western Massachusetts, went to college in upstate New York, worked in Connecticut, went to grad school in North Carolina and then moved out to the Bay Area in 1999 and have been living here ever since - love the weather and almost everything about the area (except the high cost of housing...)
