Asian American Commercial Watch: ExxonMobil’s Michael Lin Talks About His Most Inspiring Teacher

http://youtu.be/weXYpOolhIY

I caught this ExxonMobile commercial recently and I was a bit incredulous – here we have an Asian American ExxonMobil engineer / scientist Michael Lin talking about how in high school he was a bad student who wasn’t interested in and didn’t think he was good at science! Do such Asian Americans exist? LOL. Stereotypically, I was good in math and science and did study engineering. But given the “Model Minority” perception in America today, I wonder how many people find this commercial believable?

About John

I'm a Taiwanese-American and was born & raised in Western Massachusetts, went to college in upstate New York, worked in Connecticut, went to grad school in North Carolina and then moved out to the Bay Area in 1999 and have been living here ever since - love the weather and almost everything about the area (except the high cost of housing...)
