White House Proclamation on AAPI Heritage Month

US White House
The White House has issued a Proclamation on AAPI Heritage month. This proclamation features a number of Indian Americans, including Lakshmi and Radhakrishna Chilukuri, the parents of Usha Vance, the current Second Lady of the United States. Also mentioned is Pacific Islander Tulsi Gabbard, who is currently Director of National Intelligence.

I found this proclamation surprising, given the Trump Administration’s moves to purge DEI from the US Government.  Then again, the White House also issued a proclamation on National Black History Month. The Proclamation on AAPI Heritage Month does focus on the family of Vice President JD Vance’s wife. JD Vance has acknowledged white supremacist attacks against his wife. Vivek Ramaswamy, who was part of the DOGE efforts early on with Elon Musk, was notably absent.

We previously mentioned that we would check government web sites to see if Asian American History links would still be there.  The ones we mentioned here are still there.  The National Medal of Honor Museum (not a Federal government web site) has removed its blog entry for Telesforo Trinidad. To be fair, all of the museum’s blog entries on Medal of Honor winners on that website are now gone.
