Back in October, I had blogged about an awesome Target ad. Well now, I recently saw a pretty awesome CVS ad, with a charismatic Asian American mom with her adorable sons. Maybe this ad is only running in California (I hope not), but it’s great to see more and more Asian Americans being portrayed as All-American! If you didn’t grow up in the Northeast, CVS is a chain of pharmacies that has now expanded out to the West Coast with the recent acquisition of Longs Drugs.

Awesome! Too bad this mom doesn’t beatbox. :p
Yeah, beatboxing mom! This ad can’t top Target’s.
I haven’t seen this commercial on the east coast yet.
Now all we need is an “All-American Asian Dad” commercial…
@Chuck – that’s coming up soon…
BAM!
Beat you to it

How is she being portrayed as All-American?
@Kevin: I guess non-fobby accent, normal clothing, and zero-mention of anything Asian related qualify her as “All American”.
I’m all for commercials like this but I just find it really, really sad that we rejoice when mainstream racist media merely treated us like a normal human being. This only that means the rest of the time, we’re still just ping-pong playing “inscrutable” freaks. Wohoo!
I guess I am just wondering what’s wrong with immigrants and the way the speak or the way they supposedly dress. Speaking with an accent or wearing ‘fobby’ clothing doesn’t really make someone less American. I am not saying you’re saying this, just saying.
