I’m attending my first ever Democratic National Convention (DNC), as well as the first time attending any event with official media credentials due to my blogging for 8Asians.com (especially specific to politics – with over 200 or 300 blog posts to date since January 2007). It’s been quite an experience thus far, which I will blog to a further extent later.
Tuesday, September 4th, was the first official day of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. In the afternoon, the Asian American & Pacific Islanders caucus organized a Meet & Greet reception, I was able to catch a few minutes with Chris Lu, an Obama advisor who dropped by the event in a personal capacity and ask about his role in the Obama administration, what got him interested in public service and politics, as well as what Asian Americans can do to be more civically engaged.
