At Niketown, Manny Pacquiao Goes Boom

As a Filipino American, I am contractually obligated to worship Manny Pacquiao (and Tim Lincecum — hair and all). So when I saw Niketown’s window display in San Francisco’s Union Square, I felt that it was my civic duty to take a picture.

Just in time for the big Pacquiao vs. Margarito fight on November 13, the display wows us and gives us the illusion that Pacquiao is busting through the window with a BOOM! Cool, right?! I, for one, can barely gird my loins.

The “Boom” theme is in line with Nike’s ad campaign includes cameos from Rick Ross, Bo Jackson, Ndamukong Suh, Tim Tebow and Robinson Cano and uses the word “Boom” when something really cool happens in a sporting event: a homerun, an epic touchdown pass, a perfect triple lutz, a flawless ribbon routine in rhythmic gymnastics — and in the case of Manny Pacquiao, it’s a knockout punch:

It looks like “BOOM!” is the new “BOO-YAH!”
