Kung Fu Panda 2’s Jennifer Yuh Nelson Becomes Highest Grossing Female Director

“DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. today announced that its summer blockbuster, Kung Fu Panda 2, has grossed over $650 million globally to date, making Jennifer Yuh Nelson the highest-grossing female director of a film at the worldwide box office.” Yay! Well, half-yay, since the top movies directed by women have all been animated or animated/live-action hybrid movies – the “friendliest environment for women directors, as if Hollywood feels that that’s a safe zone in which to hand women the keys to the car.”
