Asian Americans and Asian Canadians in the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics

640px-2011_WFSC_5d_432_Maia_Shibutani_Alex_ShibutaniNorthwest Asian Weekly recently published a list of Asian Americans in the Sochi 2014 Olympics.   While figure skater Mirai Nagasu is not going and snowboarder Chloe Kim cannot go, ice dancers like Alex and Maia Shibutani, Madison Chock, and Felicia Zhang are.  The article mentions that short track skater J.R. Celski is half Filipino.  John has already mentioned that hockey player Julie Chu will be at Sochi.

I like how the article also points out Paralympic competitor Jen Lee, who is a member of the Paralympic sled hockey team.  Lee is an active duty Army Sergeant who began exploring adaptive sports after part of one of his legs was amputated after a motorcyle accident.  The Sochi 2014 Winter Paralympics opening ceremonies are on March 7.Patrick_Chan_2009_Festa_On_Ice

Asian Canadian figure skater Patrick Chan is returning to the Olympics and is a favorite to win a gold this year.  Other Canadians of Asian decent include snowboarder Katie Tsuyuki and the freestyle skier Yuki Tsubota.

All US athletes at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics can be found at this link.  Canadian athletes can be found here.  Note that the full official list of Paralympians is not yet available but should eventually be posted here.
