I don’t know about you, but I find this Metro PCS television commercial pretty offensive. The ad — which debuted sometime around the Superbowl — plays to the stereotypes of Indians being techno-geeks in a mocking manner. I was almost wondering if this was some bad Saturday Night Live parody. Sure, there are a lot of Indians and Indian Americans working in tech, but the manner that they are portrayed in this commercial is ridiculous. CNet seems to agree.

Yeah, it's never a good sign when a certain group is being portrayed stereotypically and in a way designed to be mocked. In the '80s, they probably would have been Japanese or something. On the one hand, it's good to see ethnic faces portrayed in mass media, but on the other hand, it's blatantly stereotypical and really not that funny. That they would think to use it to try to sell something... bleh.
This commercial actually makes watching the Olympics unpleasant. It's terrible.
